AUTUMN RAIN Display Cabinet
I’ve been exploring the use of lattice patterns, or “kumiko”, for decorative elements on Shoji for several years. This is my most complex design so far.
The predominate wood is Vertical Grain Hemlock. Also used were Quarter Cut Cherry, solid and sawn veneer of California Walnut, pulls of Macassar Ebony with veneered Ebony feet, a back and interior of Peruvian Walnut, and a top of patined copper. All solid wood except as noted. The larger curves are tapered laminations of Hemlock. The small curves are routed from solid stock.
Dimensions are: 13”d x 25”w x 43”h.
The finish is shellac.
